Understand food.
Experience craftsmanship.
Where does our food come from? What goes into a bratwurst? And how does an idea become something you can enjoy together? We want to spark curiosity in children and young people — and show them what they can create with their own hands.
MEAT:Generation is our initiative for the next generation. We want to introduce young people to food, meat culture and real craftsmanship: in an accessible, practical way, with the joy of working together.
It is about more than a finished product. Seeing the knowledge, care and work that go into food helps you appreciate it differently. And taking part often reveals skills you never knew you had.
Learn where ingredients come from, ask questions and handle raw materials thoughtfully. Respect for animals and making use of as much of each animal as possible are part of our approach.
Smell, weigh, mix and see how food is made. We make knowledge tangible and pass on skills developed over generations.
Share tasks, help each other and take pride in what you achieve together. Everyone brings something to the table — and every contribution counts.
Our youth club is for 6- to 16-year-olds who want to discover food and make something themselves. You do not need any previous experience. Curiosity and a desire to join in are a great start.
The Fleischinstitut is also a place for hands-on learning during group project days. Topics and tasks should suit the age and the group. Parents, teachers and group leaders are warmly invited to get in touch.
MEAT:Generation is taking shape. Building on our existing events for children and young people, we want to develop a club with shared experiences and hands-on activities.
Recognise spices by their scent, estimate weights and compare ingredients: small tasks help explain the bigger picture.
From weighing ingredients to the finished food, we want to make production easy to understand — with age-appropriate activities and expert guidance.
Where does meat come from? Which cuts are used for what? Why are hygiene and care so important? There should be room for every question here.
Working with school classes and youth groups, trying new things and enjoying food together: we combine learning with a memorable experience.
A club you are happy to belong to. MEAT:Generation should make that sense of belonging visible, too. A badge of your own on a jacket or waistcoat is part of our idea — a sign of what you have learned and created together.
For vocational training, we are developing a separate idea: a shared practical weekend at the Fleischinstitut. Apprentices in butchery, meat cutting and commercial roles would learn about production processes and work together as a team.
Share responsibilities, understand processes and experience other perspectives — complementing workplace training. This format is still being planned.
We started MEAT:Generation together because we want to share our enthusiasm for food and craftsmanship with young people. The Fleischinstitut should offer space to ask questions, try things out and grow together.
